Bhubaneswar Railway Station is one of the busiest in Odisha, and a lot of visitors to the city pass through it at odd hours: early departures, late arrivals, or a few hours to fill between connecting trains.
If you have a few hours
Rather than sitting in the station itself, the surrounding area has enough nearby to make a short trip worthwhile: the Ekamra Kshetra temple trail for a quick cultural stop, or Esplanade One Mall if you'd rather sit somewhere air-conditioned with food options.
If you need to actually rest
For anyone with an overnight gap between trains, or an early-morning departure that makes a same-night arrival impractical, a nearby hotel room is worth more than trying to wait it out at the station. Hotel Laughing Buddha 2 is about 3 km away, roughly a 10-minute drive.
